In the recording below is an orchestration of mine for a class project, performed by the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music Symphony Orchestra, with me conducting. Although this is an outlier in the aesthetics of my musical output, it’s an opportunity to showcase areas of my background not covered by other works.

Orchestrating Erik Satie’s Gymnopodie No. 1 for a full orchestra in the manner I did was certainly not an obvious choice, as the composer’s dislike for exaggerated romantic gesture is well known. I was consciously challenging this stated aesthetic by Satie through showing the gestural elements still very much present in his work through interpretation only – the outcome was based purely on the original piano composition.
